What is the focus of the Interior Architecture (IA) program?

The Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Architecture prepares students to become skilled designers who can create functional, sustainable, and visually appealing interior spaces. The program combines creativity with technical knowledge, teaching students how to design environments that meet the needs of users while considering aesthetics, culture, and sustainability.

Students will explore core principles such as spatial design, material selection, lighting, and ergonomics, alongside advanced topics like digital modeling, building codes, and sustainable practices. The curriculum integrates studio-based projects, technical workshops, and industry collaborations to foster proficiency in design, 3D visualization, and project management. By engaging with real-world challenges, graduates emerge as versatile designers equipped to shape the future of interior spaces with creativity, technical expertise, and a commitment to sustainability.

Designing functional, attractive, and culturally appropriate spaces

The BSc. in Interior Architecture prepares students to meet Cambodia’s growing demand for skilled interior designers. As cities develop and tourism expands, there is a need for professionals who can create functional, attractive, and culturally appropriate spaces. The curriculum combines modern design techniques with respect for local traditions, aligning with government goals for sustainable urban growth. Curriculum designers maintain constant contact with stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministries of Education and Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, the Board of Architects Cambodia, and faculty members.

What career pathways are open to graduates of the IA program?

Graduates can pursue careers in various fields of the built environment, including but not limited to:

  • Interior Designer: Creating functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces for residential, commercial, or institutional clients.
  • Architectural Designer: Working alongside architects to develop detailed designs and layouts for buildings and spaces.
  • Furniture Designer: Designing custom furniture pieces that complement interior spaces.
  • Exhibit Designer: Creating displays for museums, trade shows, and galleries, focusing on both aesthetics and functionality.
  • Lighting Designer: Specializing in the design and implementation of lighting systems for various environments.
  • Sustainable Design Consultant: Advising clients on eco-friendly materials and practices to create sustainable interior environments.
  • Project Manager: Overseeing interior design projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
