Dr. Vinh Truong Hoang

Biography

Dr. Vinh Truong Hoang earned his BS in Mathematics and Informatics from the University of Science, Vietnam, in 2006. He then completed two Master’s degrees in France – one in Computer Science from the University of Franche-Comté in 2007, and another in Applied Mathematics for Computer Science from the University of Montpellier 2 in 2008. In 2017, he earned his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Littoral Côte d’Opale, France, conducting research in image analysis and machine learning.

Since 2010, he has served as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Computer Science at Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Vietnam. He has held key academic leadership roles and has been serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science since 2023, overseeing academic programs, faculty development, and strategic research directions. He also leads the Computer Vision, AI & Data Research Group, a position he has held since 2018. His international engagements include visiting professorships at FPT University (2021–2022) and the University of Littoral Côte d’Opale (2019), as well as research visits to institutions in Spain and France.

His research spans machine learning, computer vision, feature selection, texture classification, biometrics, text mining, and image analysis. He has authored numerous journal articles—including publications in IEEE Access, Expert Systems with Applications, Computational Intelligence and Neuroscience, and Springer journals—and has contributed to major conferences across Europe and Asia. His work also extends to industrial AI applications, particularly in optical character recognition and face recognition systems.
