Prize-Giving ceremony

All the Zaman University students and staff gathered in the conference hall on 20th January for the Prize-Giving ceremony. Zaman University organised 2 competitions since end of last year. One was the Zaman University Science And Engineering Fair (ZUNSEF) Logo Design competition while the other was Scrabble Championships 2011. Our Rector Dr Erkan Polatdemir gave a speech to encourage more activities in our school in the form of competitions and contests in future.

Scrabble Finals

The finalists were punctual for their last shot at the championship. All were excited to have a go at the game and they also brought along their supporters. After one hour of knock-out round, only three were left to proceed to the next round. They were Kolneath Pen, Rattanak Prom and Naroth Yee. They pit against one another in their vocabulary and quick wittedness and the heat was definitely on! I could see beads of perspiration rolling down their cheeks and their faces turning red under the heat of the competition.

Scrabble Championships

Our first Zaman University Scrabble competition was organised on 12th January 2011. Scrabble was a game foreign to many of our students but because of the clear advantages of it pulling up our students’ English level, the university has decided to introduce it in October last year. Playing Scrabble is an alternative way of making the task of learning English fun and interesting and as an adjunct to the English classes our students receive at Zaman University. The heat was definitely on! Our players went through a grueling knock-out round and eventually 6 finalists emerged from the competition after a 2 hour session. They are Naroth Yee, Meta Soy, David Muth, Roath Pitou Visal, Rattanak Prom and Kolneath Pen.
