On Saturday 25th August, Zaman University organized an annual Open House Day, a walk-in event which allowed fresh high-school graduates an opportunity to ask questions about available majors and programs at Zaman University. At the top of the Open House’s agenda, students listened to a presentation by a representative from RMIT University. The representative gave an overview of a joint Foundation Year Program offered in partnership between Zaman University and RMIT University based in Melbourne, Australia. It is now possible for students to earn a bachelor degree from Australia by completing their foundation year at ZamanU and their remaining three years at RMIT University in Australia. The RMIT Foundation Program is a cost-saving study opportunity for students who want to earn degrees from prestigious university like RMIT University.
Besides learning about the RMIT Foundation Program, students also had the opportunity to ask questions and receive information about majors at Zaman University. At Zaman University, high-school graduates can choose one of the 11 majors offered by the university.
1.Managing Information Systems is a major which merges information technology and business management. This program integrates management and computer science disciplines leading to the Bachelor of Science Degree. This department provides students with knowledge in management and in IT, as well as with organizational skills to serve in the public and private sectors.
2. Banking and Finance prepares students with the necessary organizational skills to serve in public and private banking systems. Banks, finance, investment and management fields desperately need people who study this major as they are often critical thinkers and problem solvers, cooperative team players, negotiators, confident presenters, and IT-savvy.
3. Business Administration helps to accommodate the diverse interests of students with a wide range of goals, from beginning a career, to opening a business, to advanced graduate studies. Students will be prepared not only to achieve success in business, but also to make a positive change in the world. Students could work in fields such as business consultation, general management, consumer and market research, human resources or run their own business once they graduate.
4. International Trade and Logistics aims to produce international trade and logistics specialists through theoretical, operation oriented, and contemporary programs with the participation of eminent scholars who are specialized in International Trade and Logistics. Students could become professionals in customs, or as trade policy advisers, international trade consultants, finance dealers, or logistics service providers.
5. At Zaman University, students can also earn a degree in International Relations & Political Science. Students study courses about territorial conflicts, terrorism, international organizations like the United Nations, and relations of states such as relations between the US and Cambodia, China and Cambodia, and others. Graduates of the International Relations department are the most suitable candidates for pursuing careers in the diplomatic corps, foreign affairs ministry, and international affairs offices in governmental and non-governmental organizations.
6. Industrial Engineering aims to optimize complex processes and complex systems. An industrial engineers’ task is to reduce excessive usage of time, materials and financial resources such as money, man-hours, machine time, energy and others so as to maximize the generated value. They engineer processes and systems in order to improve quality and productivity. A graduate from Industrial Engineering could become a forecasting analyst, analyst quality engineer, innovation and design engineer, or marketing supply planner.
7. Computer Science is designed to provide students with the technical knowledge and skills necessary to specify, evaluate, and manage computer systems design; to provide technical guidance in applications ranging from data processing to tactical embedded systems; to educate students in the analysis and design methodologies appropriate for hardware, software, and firmware; and provide practical experience in applying modern computer equipment and research techniques to solve daily problems. After graduation, students could become database administrators, IT security managers, computer gaming professionals, or civil servants in various government agencies.
8. Architecture helps students to learn how to make physical changes to our surroundings that enhance the quality of the built environment and our experience of life. Within this broad purpose, architectural study and practice includes the tasks of providing shelter and environmental protection, providing appropriate settings for human activities, and creating forms that are aesthetically pleasing and supportive of social well-being in the community and society. With knowledge and skills in architecture, people could work as architects, architectural technologists, or interior and spatial designers.
9. Students majoring in Construction Management study about organizing and managing the construction phase of society's efforts to improve the environment. A construction manager is a key member of the building process and requires a professional knowledge of techniques, materials, equipment, job planning and cost control to add to the contributions of the planning and design professions. Construction Management professionals could work as building control surveyors, building services engineers, building surveyors, facilities managers, quantity surveyors, and site engineers.
10. Civil Engineering is about designing and constructing facilities that are essential for humans' welfare, such as buildings we live in; roads that we use for commuting; bridges, tunnels for easy access, dams to produce energy; and many others. There are plenty of jobs available for Civil Engineering students including construction contractors, consultants, and civil servants.
11. Architecture Engineering aims to provide basic and professional education in building-related structural engineering. It is designed to prepare the student to become a professional dealing with the safe and economical design of structural systems used in buildings and related activities within the construction industry. Unlike architects that typically incorporate aesthetic and layout concerns; architecture engineers focus more on structure and stability. A large part of their job is to ensure a building remains functional and safe. Students may work on new construction projects or renovations to existing buildings.
